According to a recent poll published by Crisis, more than three-quarters (76%) of people in Britain feel powerless to help people experiencing homelessness, but our Thursday Beavers learned that they could make a difference when they raised funds for the charity Crisis as part of their A Million Hands Project.
Their gift of £57.74 reserved places for two people at Christmas and introduced them to the education, training and support to help end their homelessness for good through Crisis’ year-round services.
The plan was for each Beaver to receive a tube of Smarties. When they returned the tube refilled with small coins (1p, 2p, 5p…) they received another tube of Smarties to consume as their reward. Tesco St Neots Community Team supported this fundraising effort by donating tubes of Smarties, so every penny donated went to Crisis.
