What do Beavers do? (Thursday Colony)

All sorts of things!

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.  There is core flexibility in the age range:  young people can join from age 5¾, and can move to Cubs between age 7½ and 8½.  It may sometimes be appropriate to extend this flexibility for young people with additional needs.

We are an active colony and aim to deliver a balanced programme which contains a great deal of flexibility and is designed primarily for participation and youth involvement. It can therefore be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for any young person, whatever their ability.  While many sessions are based at our regular meeting place, we go on day visits, have occasional sleepovers and provide many members with their first opportunity to sleep in tents!

There is a range of badges and challenge awards that Beaver Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements.
